The Pardon My French! book club is a monthly initiative that brings together readers to discover and discuss contemporary French literature in a relaxed setting.
This month, we discuss Love Me Tender by Constance Debré, a provocative exploration of motherhood, freedom, sexuality, and social norms. After coming out as a lesbian, Debré rejects not only heteronormativity but also conventional markers of stability, embracing a radically independent life devoted to writing, swimming, and desire.
