Goncourt Choice of India: Translation Contest 2026

Submit a translation sample and stand a chance to receive a publishing contract.

The Goncourt Choice of India launches the first edition of its translation contest, inviting translators to work with contemporary French literature.

For this edition, candidates are invited to translate an excerpt from La Nuit au cœur (A Night at the Heart) by Nathacha Appanah, an award-winning novel recognized by major French literary prizes and the Goncourt Choice of India.

FORMAT & SELECTION

Participants are required to submit a translation sample based on the provided excerpt.

The selected laureate will receive a translation grant for the complete translation of the book, along with a publishing contract.

Selection will be based on the quality, accuracy, and literary sensitivity of the submitted translation.
